Anonymous asked: Zac, I love your youtube channel from the day I started watching it, but what happened to the mostly random videos like the "death" one, which makes me laug every time I watch it?
I drift through styles, you know? I don’t want to bore people by doing the same things over and over. For a while I was doing those kinda standard “Zac’s Vlog” episodes, but then I started thinking about vlogs as like, video essays. I did the Slut Walk thing and then I did some political ones and I liked that. But then I kinda burned out on it and after My Beautiful Dark Twisted Vlog Fantasy or whatever I got interested in weird, wandering, less-joke-centric, partly irritating videos haha. But I have been feeling compelled to wander back. I have a lot of little ideas that don’t fit in any one thing, and that usually leads to videos like “Death.” I don’t know. In part I am entertaining myself when I do these things.
And then there’s also the fact that like, sometimes I can only seem to write a certain way? I don’t have the TIME to do RSR episodes right now, but I also haven’t really been able to write them. I’ve been thinking the NCITW mold, because we do 4 or 5 of those at once and then I’ve got videos for a week. It’s a muscle you have to get back once you let it atrophy, so to speak.
